Signs of intelligent life

Every day Wessy seems to surprise me with some new sign of sentience.  Because he can't say too many distinct words (though this list is growing), I often get lulled into thinking that he doesn't understand what is going on around him.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  There have been several little moments lately that showed me just how much he is learning and observing:

-Today at the Cal Academy of Sciences, he was playing with a little toy sink. He kept turning on the dry taps and insisting to the sink, "AWAH, AWAHHHHHH!." AWAH=agua=water.
-Also at the Cal Academy today, he found a basket of fake food among the toys in the toddler play area.  He bit into the avocado enthusiastically, but when it didn't taste as expected, he quickly discarded it.  He also picked up but quickly discarded the banana.
-On a related note, he keeps holding up the bottle of hand sanitizer on his changing table and saying, "AWAHHH!"
-Also today, he pooped in his diaper, then looked at me, grabbed his diaper and yelled triumphantly, "POOOOOOH!!!"
-Two days ago, he was paging through his beloved BOOKAH (the cah buh) and I asked him, "Donde esta la motocicleta?"  He quickly turned the page of the book and pointed right at the picture of the motorcycle.
-He has learned to say uva (grape).  He will say UBBAH! Or just BAH! every time he sees a grape.  If you ask if he wants uvas, he lights up like a Christmas tree.  If he sees a banana, he starts yelling ME ME MEEEE.
-He has started putting both hands in the air and shaking them frantically when he is excited and just can't handle it.  It's so adorable.
-He calls Montse "MIN-NA MIN-NA MIN-NA."  I think he is still working on the M sound.  If you ask if he wants to go see Montse, he will skitter enthusiastically towards her room and barge happily in her door.  He is a big fan of her purse and likes to carry it around.

Current words:
Bookah, Cal, uva, bye bye, mama, dada, bubba, poop, piss, please, no, yeah, si, agua, queso, cheese, keys, dog, gato, aguacate, pan, bath, parque, zapatos, and probably a bunch I'm forgetting right now.
