Updates
So I have been remiss in actually writing blog posts but I have been keeping a "one-line journal" in which I try to write down some of the little tidbits, even if they are just random thoughts or off the cuff observations. Not always in complete sentences. And now I have decided to dump them all here so when I inevitably lose the notebook I won't be crushed. Without further ado:
10/28: He ran around Noe Town Square like a big kid. I think he is learning to run. Dipped his potato in it when offered a spoonful of yogurt. Now walking more than crawling. Said "bubble" unprompted. Looks at light fixtures and says "wwooooowwww." Says "poop" and "piss," sometimes appropriately. Laughs when I say BOOGERS!
10/29: Wessy wearing his Ewok costume and swinging his spear around and grinning. Wessy was sick so he was snuggly and lovey.
10/30/16: Laying in Wessy's crib while I'm trying to get him to sleep and he is saying all the words he knows--BOOKAH, cal, mama, dada. The insistent way he says MAMA when I try to leave his room while he's still awake. Today he took a book off the shelf and pretended to read it to himself. It was an animal picture book and he was panting like a dog at the pictures. He looked so boy-like. Today he said potty for the first time. He loves the nursery at church now--super happy to play with cars the whole time.He is still enchanted by waving around his cardboard "spear."
10/31/16: Capn's second Halloween! He dressed as an ewok. He seemed unimpressed by trick or treating though he went crazy when I gave him a piece of candy (Twix bar). He seemed to have his own plans and it was cute to watch the little Ewok/bear go about his business. It was cute watching him eat an apple. He called it a ball. He calls all pumpkins balls.
11/1/16: Sitting in the tub with the capn tonight--he imitated me when I did "Rocket Ship Rocket Ship."He said "cheese."When I asked him to go get his shoes, he did. He fell fast asleep on my chest in less than one minute.
11/2/16: Wessy climbed onto my lap in the bathtub. When I hugged Wessy a few days ago after he fell down, he put his hand around my neck and it was more intentional than any hug he's given before. He can manage the spoon in both hands but prefers his right slightly. He says "poop" all the time...
11/3/16: Seeing him run around at the park and saying PAH PAH and hearing a dad at the park say "that boy's really cute." Taking a bath with him and watching him try to get the shaped in the wrong spots on his shape sorter. Hearing him say MAMA? like it's a question. When he looks up from laying on my chest and grins at me. Watching him go down the ramp in the push car at Simply Fun with a big smile on his face.
11/4/16: We drove down the coast today. We saw Montera Lighthouse and also walked the Devil's Slide trail. The waves were amazing. It was fun to watch Wessy toddle around at the overlook and explore his environment. He is so verbal now. He said "Jackie" (lady at the church nursery), ducky, bath, beans, maybe apple. He played happily with his toy bulldozer and made VROOM sounds. I love the look on his face when you give him something he likes. He just beams at his plastic toy bulldozer.
He ate at The Little Chihuahua and he actually halfway managed to eat with a spoon. He can sit in his highchair and eat a whole meal now. He has been eating very well lately. However, when he eats something spicy, he groans and sticks his hand in his mouth to try and get it to stop.
He is my little soul. I feel so much love and somehow a lot of heartbreak. That the world isn't the way I want it to be for him. That he's getting bigger. That someday someone may not be kind to him. The more I know him, the more I want to protect him.
11/7/16: We went to Marin Headlands today. Wessy toddled all around. I loved watching him. It was so peaceful there. Few people. Wessy is so sentient now. He loved it when I sang him songs. He held my hand to his chest and started "singing" with me. I love this little guy sooo much.
11/9/16: He fell asleep on my chest and drooled all over me. His shirt smells like warm milk. He desperately needs a haircut. He loves being held. He loves being chased and laughs wildly when I pursue him. Looking at him makes me feel both hopeful and pained about the world. I fear for his future with a Trump presidency and it hurts that it came to this. He deserves better.
11/10/16: Watching him play the little xylophone. I love him. He really loves hummus. He was reaching for it and saying please please please (pee pee pee). He says parque (park) like PARKY.
Okay, that's plenty for now, will do the rest of them later.
